Competition Rules
The competition structure operates at International, National and Local levels.
International – Mostly governed by the FEI disciplines include showjumping, dressage, eventing, driving and vaulting.
National – Each of the FEI disciplines are controlled within each member country by their own organisations. Other nationally governed disciplines include amongst others Endurance, Ridden showing, Gymkhana games, reining, barrel racing, Le trec and racing.
Local – At a local level competitions are organised by clubs and centres some of whom operate indendantly and some are affiliated to national organisations.
Which disciplines allow bitless bridles?
Internationally – currently only the showjumping and the showjumping phase of eventing allow bitless bridles.
Nationally – this will depend on each countries own rules but usually – showjumping, showjumping phase of eventing, endurance, le trec, some western classes
Locally – this is very much at the discretion of the local show organiser. Independent shows may allow bitless bridles if not competitively then Hors Concours so it is worth enquiring with the organisers.

Worldwide Online - Interdressage the online dressage competition site allows bitless bridles in many classes. Also the highest placed bitless bridle user gets a special Bitless Horse Association rosette too.
